Kwan Jang Nim (translated means "head of the masters")
GM Lee Chang Soo is one of Korea's most famous and beloved
Hapkido masters. He has exceptional talent for locking and
kicking techniques. As head of JIN JUNG KWAN Korea, he is
one of the most influential people in Hapkido. GM Lee is not
only exceptionally well in his technique but also leaves a
deep impression as a person.
GM Lee Chang Soo was born on May 15, 1950 in Seoul. At the
age of 14, he began training Hapkido in the dojang of Grandmaster
Yong Kim Myung. In 1975, he opened his own Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido
dojang in Seoul where he still teaches every day.
In 1976, he won the first Hapkido Championship in Korea in
the medium-weight class. That same year he joined in the National
demo team of the Korea Hapkido Federation. In 1984, he made
a Hapkido-promotional tour through East Asia and was appointed
Chief of the National Demo Team of the KHF.
In 1986, GM Lee Chang Soo Hapkido trained Korea Airlines
air martials and in 1987 for the Seoul police. Since 1992,
he became Hapkido-examiner for the National Police School
in Seoul. Moreover, he was in 1993 appointed by the government
as Hapkido grandmaster for all public institutions.

Hapkido, the elite school of the Korea Federation Hapkido
• KHF former chairman of the jury for all examinations
of 1st to 7th Dan
• Former Head of the Demo Team of the Korea Federation
Hapkido
• Former Head instructor at the annual Master's course
of the KHF (between 200 and 400 participants)
• Full-time chief instructor Self-defense for the Korean
Special Forces SWAT teams.

Grandmaster
Lee Chang Soo, 8th Dan, is the Grandmaster of Jin Jung Kwan
Hapkido and Examiner of the Korean Hapkido Federation.
Upon his many accomplishments, Grandmaster Lee has competed
in tournaments, winning the middle-weight division of the
first Hapkido Championships in 1976. As a member of the Korean
Hapkido Federation Demonstration Team, he has toured throughout
East Asia, giving Hapkido demonstrations in Hong Kong, Singapore
and Indonesia. Such involvement and dedication resulted in
the appointment of Grandmaster Lee to the Chief of the Central
Demonstration Team of the Korean Hapkido Federation, touring
throughout Korea and most recently in Germany in 1998 and
1999.
Grandmaster Lee has also shared his expertise in Jin Jung
Kwan Hapkido with others; the theoretical and practical applications
of the specialized art. In 1986 and 1987, he taught Hapkido
seminars to the sheriffs of Korea Airlines and Seoul police
department. The success of his contribution and commitment
to the art has honored him with the appointment of Hapkido
Examiner of the Central Police Academy in 1990, Hapkido Examiner
for the National Police Academy in 1992 and the Hapkido Grandmaster
of public institutions in 1993.
Grandmaster Lee has devoted his whole life to Jin Jung Kwan
Hapkido and continues to impress upon his students his passion
and fierce love of the art. Having established Jin Jung Kwan
headquarters throughout the world, including Korea, Germany,
France and Belgium, Grandmaster Lee is very proud to select
Canada as the newest addition to his growing list of schools
and students privileged to learn this remarkable and amazing
art under his greatness. Still teaching in the first Jin Jung
Kwan Hapkido school he opened in 1975, Grandmaster Lee continues
to amaze and defy the laws of nature with his keen ability
and proficiency in the art.
