The Cassmeyer Family

Our son, Mr. Cassmeyer, started training with Master Rhoades in the fall of 1998.  What started then was a journey that now finds his mother and father providing living proof Hapkido is for all people, all sizes, and all shapes. The regular training and discipline have helped us to bring in to focus truly important matters in each of our lives.

Our son is now a black belt and in the best physical shape of his life.  He has grown into a confident, courageous and noble young man who is not afraid to defend his beliefs.  Master Rhoades and Hap Ki Do played a major role in his development.

His father and I were so inspired that we too decided to take up Hap Ki Do. We expected to be challenged physically, and we were. However, we have both grown spiritually and emotionally as a result of our involvement.

We have been most touched by the support and friends we have gained through this endeavor and we know our lives have been changed for the better.

The Halstead Family
One evening in October of 2000 my husband and I decided to speak with Master Rhoades regarding enrollment of our son, Zacharie, into the Hapkido program. Zacharie was a very energetic 6 yr old and we were looking for a way to encourage but also focus that energy into something he could be proud of. Since Zacharie's first class Hapkido has become a way of life not only for Zach but for our whole family. We quickly discovered that it is more than just kicking and as a whole, as the motto says "Your life does depend on it."

Before long our second son became involved in classes and yet another Halstead son is waiting his turn to be in classes too!  For us, Hapkido is so many things, respect for self and others, patience, devotion, endurance, strength, technique, and of course practice not to mention the fun you have, the friends you make and feeling of family you have every time you go to class or attend one of the great outside of class activities.

When my boys talk about Hapkido they talk in both short and long term goals. When you listen to them you know that all of this is something that is going to stick with them for life not just a season. Someone just last weekend asked Zacharie "When will you be done and be a black belt?"  Zach looked at him for a moment and then simply stated "I won't be done. First I will earn my black belt and then I get to keep learning but I will also get to teach other students the things that I have learned." That is the goal he states when anyone asks him about what his plans are and as a red belt he gets closer everyday.  When Zacharie and his brother, Ian, talk about Hapkido, they relate to each other and connect like all brothers should be able to. They encourage each other, stand up for each other and even have a grand plan of how they will have to go to college together so that they can still teach Hapkido together.

They even speak of how their two younger brothers will be there working right along with them.   As a mother I can only sit back and smile with great pride at the goals my sons
have set for themselves as I watch them achieve them one step at a time.

Mr. Logan
When asked why someone should come to this school, Mr. Logan's answer was "You have lots and lots of fun!!!"
